It's not about "balls," it is about knowing what you can legally do.
Or it could be about knowing what you want in the contract. Good thing we have ALPA and all their corporate knowledge going for us.

That way we can memoralize the chinese flying and not sweat the small stuff like 4A2b.

I have to disagree. Having it in their contract is great; I wasnt aware of that until it was posted. We ought to shoot for that ourselves.

But, we still should have the nads to explain thru ALPA comm, on a monthly basis, that flying DPs is not in our best interest.

As far as open time is concerned, to have the Union explain how the schedules are being built with less lines and values, how VTO's are constructed and reserves are utilized, and how picking up open time keeps us in 4a2b; that would just be stating the facts. If we dont have legal types that can defend the statement of facts, they are worthless IMO.

Well the IPA left language in the contract that let UPS abrogate seniority when they decided to furlough, Pilots that were displaced did not get to bump with seniority rights they were assigned aircraft under a preset system.

It's not about what you "want" in a contract. It's what you're willing to fight for. And so far, the FDX group has not shown nearly enough resolve, to get what we want.

Let's hope that we've grown up for the upcoming contract negotiations. But, I fear that with the forecast good times coming, apathy will once again be our biggest enemy.

We don't have a summer vacation season anymore. One of the larger givebacks in this contract. We used to have 15% more vacation weeks during the summer months. They had to staff for that all year long which meant more jobs. Not anymore, it's all even

This is where you need to think outside the box. With that MFer, he could have been breaking in there to rape the dude! Guess he didn't like what he saw in the shower.

Totally agree. The victim needs to file a sexual harassment charge (Gumbie knew he was in the shower when he entered the room and didn't leave). Should also contact a psychologist (future expert witness) to determine the level of PTSD he suffered from the incident. I would think attacking the situation from multiple angles (including suing Marriott International who will then likely sue UPS because their representative misrepresented facts to gain access to the room) will be most effective. Add all that to the cost of furlough: situation would have never presented itself had not all the dominoes fell from the initial announcement.
