FDX- Extra Pairings
Glad to see there is some extra flying out there, but I love how it mysteriously shows up in open time about 7 hours prior to the Open Time Goat &*%$ Jamboree.
There are 20 xtra pairings in the 727 S/O seat for a total of about 129 hours.
Anyone else?

MD 11 open time today
MD11 FO MEM just had a handful of extra and charter pairing show up today for both april and may. Coincidence that it showed up on the day open time can be traded? Do not think so! Being played a fool again!

Forget the Xparings. There was a ton of regular trips in OT when it was released and the bottom 30 VTOs were all R-lines.... on the MD captain side anyway. Seems they are artificially jacking with the lines. I can only guess this is to justify the 4a2b stuff. A few hours before the VTO were published most of those trips had been assigned then taken back... ***?

Ditto on the MEM A300 F/O side--lots of regular bidpack trips (not XTRA pairings) that were "conveniently" absent during VTO line-building. Wednesday night, after lines were built, only a handful (6-7 I think) of trips in Open Time. Then, last Thursday afternoon, it's Christmas in April, with lots of regular trips magically appearing in Open Time. Too bad the DPs (Trip 329/7May, 14May, and 21May) were eventually scooped up as well.

They need to keep the SAM....and thus the BLGs...DOWN!!
The best way they've found to accomplish this is to increase the # of hard lines (...reducing BLG avgs)....which decreases the # of "published" reserve lines. (check out the union data re: line allocation by percentage in the SIG notes)
...they then hold off to see how much reserve is eaten away by training, vacation, etc during the conflict/input window.
Any deficiency is then picked up by VTO lines consisting of mixed or pure reserve (...a reserve "shock absorber", if you will).
The union has noticed this trend for months ---- but it seems to be getting worse.
Any guesses on what the SAM will be for June?
Some rumors out there that it may actually be above 68 hrs.
