Hypothetical FDA LOA
#13
As much as I hate to say it, but if my memory serves me correctly, LOA2 stated the company and the MEC chair could pass amendments without a vote...
I may be mistaken, but I tried to look it up...going to alpa's site later..

Are you joking?
When our last contractual improvements benefited longer (8+, 10+) flights more than shorter ones, should the previous MD-11 bid awards be "re-bid"??
If there is a 777 pay rate increase, should that be re-bid too?
It's one thing to have come up with a new FDA LOA right after the base opened, but a totally different thing 2+ years later.

All I want is what every other expat gets in Hong Kong, a tax break that offsets the costs of living there. When I presented this LOA to my expat buddies there (some pilots, some not) they said, "Not to worry mate, 2700 isn't much but you'll clean up in taxes." Not really thanks to the PWC LOA deal. Hong Kong's large expat population is due in large part to companies' abilities to attract Western workers based on tax savings. Take that away and it's just another expensive city.
By the way Beemer I still owe you beers.

By hypothetical do you mean a FDA LOA that isn't unsat?
We've got quite a way to go to reach that goal. Good luck with that.
If you push a LOA that gets improved by the company after you sell it as "a good deal" and, when the evidence comes in to prove otherwise, as the "best we can get" what does that say about you as a block rep, MEC officer or NC Chair? It screams "Vote me out ASAP!" Oddly, DM didn't even know why his campaign for MEC Chair failed.

Are you refering to the change in the regulated age ??? --- a Federal law vs. a change we would negotiate to our own contract.
Not sure I see the connection.
I think there would be a huge downside to "reward" those who have chosen to bid the HKG FDA under a sub-standard FDA package with "retro-benefits/enhancements", if that package were to be improved in the future because they need to attract more pilots to fill it.
I think the FDA benefits are insufficient, but those who have agreed to live under the current FDA package did it voluntarily.
