That makes sense ! I guess UPS better hire more people like you, those who have no personal judgement on what they are worth.

Plz keep in mind "real dollars" this is basicly what a UPS pilot made in 1998 for flying smaller aircraft on average then what we have today.

If these numbers are my pay then :

Call in sick? = your pay will be docked
Dont accept JA's = your pay will be docked
Don't pick up opentime = your pay will be docked
Bid reserve and dont go over guarantee? = your pay will be docked
Take your vacation = your pay will be docked
Train on days on = your pay will be docked

Yes, its a lot of money, was then is now. However using the folks who the past few years who have accepted JA'/opentime/etc against those who have given 100% is a slap in the face to the union pilots.

There is no escaping the fact we will be flying larger aircraft for the same money. We are being compensated less for producing more while we generate record profits. Its business, does this make good business sense?

Personal judgement on what I'm worth? The avg. W-2 numbers speak for themselves. You demand more money than that?

Honestly, I haven't really heard a lot of complaints about the money.....it seems to be more about scheduling. Of course some people are a little out of touch thinking we should be making $400K an hour. Don't get me wrong, I would take that but it just ain't gonna happen.

Though we've only had a short time to bid under the new scheduling rules, and discounting for the xmas peak season during which the company gets much scheduling relief, at least on the DC-8 the schedules are much cleaner. The union wanted the schedules to be week on/week off with no 2or 3 day "stuffer" trips thrown in the middle of your "off" week (a killer for commuters). That seems to be the case now, but I'm not counting my chickens until after the new year. We also get first class for domestic commercial deadheads greater than 5 hours, which I have personally ops checked from EWR to ONT. What an improvement over jumpseating coast to coast in a DC-8 with the rest of your crew! There is some heartburn among the membership over having to show to the hotel by Sunday for a Tuesday departure. It kind of sucks, but it was the price for getting clean week on/week off schedules. No doubt there are some other bad deals in there somewhere, but I have yet to see them.

What are the schedules like for the ONT 75/76 guys?

How much of it is domestic versus international stuff to Asia?

There aren't many Pac Rim lines and they go very senior. You could usually snag one off of the VTO secondary bid if you are the top two or three guys, but no guarantees. Basically, the night flying is week on, week off, and the day flying is four days on, three days off with one week off a month.
