Gateway gets you to the plane no matter where it is, as long as you live more than 130 miles from your base and in the Lower 48 or Alaska. Say you are JFK based. Your line will start in JFK. But the first leg maybe a deadhead. Atlas will get you to JFK and put you up in a hotel there before your trip starts. But under some IRS reg, that counts as a company benefit (income) and you are taxed on the cost of the ticket and hotel. The game is, say you start flying out of ORD. You talk with Travel and have them get you from the house to ORD instead of JFK. You're still paid deadhead from JFK to ORD but there's no tax paid on your travel from the house to ORD or the hotel there. Same thing at the end of the trip.

what is the expected outcome for work rules with the new contract? (I hear Polar work rules likely? a good thing!?)
Is first year still at 50 hour guarantee?
What is training pay? (still 1400?)
Is it true>>> When you near guarantee and still have several days available, they stop flying you and leave you in hotel on long layover? (ie. like an international reserve incase they need you bad enough,, if not at end of pattern send you home)
thanks

It varies. Say you have a noon departure out of JFK. As far as Atlas scheduling cares, you live in NYC. So if travel has to move you from the West Coast to JFK on day zero to have you in position rested to start at noon, that's what happens. If you airline out of JFK at noon to position to CHS for a flight on day 2 they can airline from anywhere on day one but you only get deadhead pay JFK-CHS.
I have no idea how the contract will work out. Training pay is 1200 a month till you start OE or have an 'observation flight.' First year is 50 hours.
More likely they'll hold you till they can DH you on a company flight Europe-US or China-US so they don't have to buy an international ticket.
