Hot off the press...

"We have learned that management is investigating a pilot regarding the sending of allegedly improper text messages to other pilots. Management is apparently data mining information from VIPS to determine pilots that match the profile of the individual who sent the messages. Due to aggressive management actions in the past, we strongly advise you to invoke your right to ALPA representation prior to answering any questions or engaging in any conversation, no exceptions."

Anyone acting like a Maverick should beware....secondly this message translates into "any keystroke you do in VIPS or any Company computer can and will be 1) archived 2) used against you when you get into the sights of a discipline issue, even if not part of the actual issue at hand"

At least that is the way I read it, I would suggest everyone think twice before you make business decisions while on a Company site, I know I do.

I'm guessing the individual may have been policing the disputed pairings. I think now might be a good time to minimize VIPS usage.

They recently fired a Captain over something similar to this.

We all get the ALPA emails, do we really need to discuss this in an open forum?

True, but we really need is to get everyone to READ their ALPA email. The people in trouble are probably being proactive in making sure things get disseminated to people who either do not read ALPA email or more than likely do not care.

When do we want our next CBA? The time is NOW to start acting like a Union. If people are sending threatening or other inappropriate communication, why don't we start using pro stan for things like this? The receiver of the text, while we do not know the details, obviously contacted someone at the crystal palace first. So in a way, maxKts is right on target, lets keep this stuff in house. ALPA.

If something reported goes out of bounds it will be directed appropriately by the fine folks in pro stan and in the end can save all of us lots of time and money.

Good point. I think I have only heard Pro Standards mentioned once since I have been here. It was mentioned a lot at a previous airline of mine. It does do a good job of house keeping among ourselves. Chief Pilots liked it too as they didn't have to deal with everything. They only were involved with the stuff that they really had to be involved with. Matter of fact, sometimes they would encourage Pro Standards to take care of it, rather than make it a company thing.

I used Pro Standards once, glad I did.

They can't solve all the problems, that is why there are Chief Pilots.

Yes they did! And yes they used VIPS history to go after him. He was a new hire classmate and friend of mine. He called me (and a couple others) after he was notified of his hearing seeking advice. ALPA called me (and the others) and told me to beware since the company knew I knew about it and that management were on a witch hunt and to keep my head down. Of course, I haven't done anything to worry about. I advise and encourage others to learn from my buddy! Proof that you don't want to do anything that even appears to be harassment of others. Especially as we approach contract negotiations! Give you one guess who fired him!
