I'm glad that we are getting this from someone outside of the organization.
Exactly.

I know one of the guys on their website, and he's top-notch. This is a good thing.

Does anyone else find it "interesting" that Fedex is outsourcing RGS training?

This surprises you after we get e-mails that say, if you call a go around "you had better be right"

Obviously our in-house CRM training didn't get through to a few of our guys, maybe someone from the outside can.

Would you care to provide a reference for those emails? (author/date?)

The only time I recall hearing "you had better be right" was in reference to the FO physically taking control from the Capt. What I've most often heard regarding CALLING go-around, is "go-arounds are free."

You are right I miss quoted the e-mail, it was in reference to taking control of the aircraft. However I stand by the intent of my post. Based on the reaction to that e-mail I still believe some of our Captains could use some outside help.

Wow! How many times have you felt the need to call for a go-around lately?

Let's face it ... we do go-arounds/missed approaches so seldom that they are basically emergency procedures.

They shouldn't be, I'll be glad to explain my go-around if it saves me from having to explain a pile of scrap metal at the end of the runway. I Like the intent/mindset change about go-arounds in training the last several years

Feel your pain as I know a few FO's that could use it bit of help too.

I'd recommend against using this forum to determine who needs "outside help" in how they fly the airplane.

Regarding those needing "outside help", it's been my observation that since I upgraded, I find many fewer Captains, and many more FOs needing help. But then again, I fly with a lot fewer Captains and a lot more FOs than I used to. Maybe exposure has something to do with our perceptions?

I anticipate this new ground training will solve everything.
