Fr8Dog, Your pet peeve seems to be guys selling back vacation and mine is carryover. I've got a great sticker idea for you. "TAKE A STAND, TAKE YOUR VACATION".
I already did, I have 6+58 left in my VAC bank and 7 days of VAC sked for DEC! Wilson had it right in June '01!

Yeah, my point was just not to fly extra. The issue I think, is that there may be a time when someone might pick up a draft trip after they dropped something earlier. And if you end up flying the same CR in a month (or something close to it) but the company paid you 150% for some of that, is that really a bad thing?

I was discussing this some time ago with another pilot and we thought that maybe protecting min days off might be a better way to go. This wasn't a very deep analysis, just an idea off the top of our heads. You look at some guys' schedules and they have a line but then get drafted on their days off so their calendar shows just two or three days off in a month. Those are the guys who are not helping the cause.

The point is you have a great opportunity to park a plane if they are drafting for that trip. This tells the company that it is time to pay up.

Default Flex Guys

Fellow Pilots,

I'm a Flex guy and I'm personally disgusted by the conduct of my peers. Cowards (closed calendars) and flying *****s (greedy bastards) are undermining the process. They live in a fantasy land and think no one is watching what's going on behind the scenes.

I think it is time to up the ante and call these *********s out. "Why is your calendar always closed? If you need to fly, just bump me. Why don't you wear your ALPA lanyard? How many VLT/DRF trips have you flown lately? Etc. etc."

I kid you not, I am considering a resignation. Very little respect for those I work with because of their actions. Imagine if no one in the training department worked extra events. Training would come to a screeching halt. The implications of that are far reaching. I have yet to work an extra event. I tell the schedulers I have other commitments. But, they always fill it at DRF.

Do me a favor and don't "paint" all the Flex guys as clueless and greedy. Some of us have backbones and principles. The sad thing is the numbers are embarassingly low.

Fraternally,
NKA

My bad. I didn't really say it right. My point is that if I have to drop 3 trips off my regular line because of family issues, should I:
a: not make them up
b: make up 2 trips at ava or vlt while not increasing my overall BLG and leave a trip in OT
c: make up 3 trips at straight time
I'm just trying to figure out what is better for "the cause"

I would make them up at draft when we have a contract in hand, and not before. Don't help them until they help us. Also, by waiting, you can make more with a raise added to either straight time or draft. Pay for the delay!

NoKoolAid,

My hats off to you!!!

While most of us realize not all of the flex guys are airwhor's, many are! They ***** and moan about section 11 as if someone took away their Birthday. They use it to justify their whoring! If you don't like it quit. The problem is many of them can't afford to. While I'll be the first to say we should not making any concessions, section 11 is an attempt to transfer some money to the LCAs, who in my opinion, are underpaid and deserve it. They are the ones working the hardest, puting their ticket on the line, with almost no schedule flexibilty.

I sat in F street a month ago listening to a flex guy chastize a line guy for taking a DRF. When someone asked the flex guy how many days a month he was working, he claimed "that's different...we don't have choice". He said that they had been told that if they don't, "there is no place for them in training"

One flex guy told me, we are currently doing 24 crews a month. With no overtime they could only do 14.

It's time for a blanket party!

I was on a site called pilotswap.net the other day just wasting time, and found this request from last month. Does anyone know this airbus captain? If you do, you need to talk to him, because he obviously doesn't understand what is going on.
