Default Yet another FDX vacation/vto question

I did a quick search and couldn't find an answer so I will pose this to the vacation gurus. My seniority has fallen to the point that I am no longer able to hold a line. I was awarded a vto for feb and have the first 6 days of feb scheduled for vacation. I don't really want to take the vacation now as I would rather use it in the summer or during thanksgiving but I am fairly sure I have no choice since I have a vto. My question is, is it possible to request to not use vacation?? and if I have to use it will I be deducted exactly 36 hrs (6 days) or will they have to find a trip that equaled as close to 36 hrs as possible?
PS, VTO's blow.
thanks!

I am sorry to say that 36 hours (6 Days of vacation) will be deducted from your vacation bank.

Thanks for the quick reply Lindy. I was afraid of that. At least it will be an exact number and I can have a better idea what to ask for in my requests.
cheers brother

Just for future info I had the same thing happen to me in January. I had vacation the last week and did not want to use it and basically stash it away for sell back at the end of the year. NO GO. Futures built me a vto month using a credit of 42 hours and then added a trip to make a full month. Also you cannot go into makeup vacation with the same intent of selling it back at the end of the year. Final analysis is that if you want to sell back a week or two of vacation each year you must bid around those weeks to have off. Usually this means domestic unless your real senior.

When you have vacation, VTO is worse than reserve for conserving your Vac Bank. For a reserve line, the R-day value x Vac days; 4:01 [this month] x 7 = 28:07 CH subtracted from your Vac Bank, vs 42 CH subtracted for a VTO line.

Be careful with Reserve and Vacation if you want to have specific days off.

The company dropped the days of THEIR chosing, ignoring my request (which is legal in the contact). For example, wanted to work week #1 and drop week #4....

BTW, it wasn't Nov or Dec when this happened!

If wanting vacation buyback, go Reserve route, if seniority will permit.

Don't forget that with an R-Line there is a 48 hr buffer on either side........more days off.

That's why I don't bid VTO...for a variety of reasons. You always get hosed.
