Ahhh, touche! The difference, to me at least, is in one case the puling is about someone getting what they are entitled to and in the other someone getting something they were not entitled to (or qualified or deserving or pick your adjective here). More specifically, if he weren't good enough to be elected on a local level by those who know him, he probably shouldn't have been picked to serve on a national level.
When someone cries about how much another is making here, it rings of envy. As long as he's coloring within the lines, it's no business of anybody how much he makes. It does bother me when poor performance is rewarded with promotion, though.

I copied and pasted this from a regional thread on SkyWest. Just hoping FDX also goes from overmanned---to---hiring in a matter of months. Here's hoping for a good 2010 for all of us in aviation! And of course, hoping that 4a2b comes to an end for you guys!
.................
.................
.................Received notice from BV that we are now at normal staffing and our VLA program has been suspended. Flt Ops is no longer accepting VLA requests in thanks to an increase in block hours in 2010.
This of course goes hand in hand with SKW announcement that we will be hiring and upgrading 16 pilots.
It’s interesting how we can go from………….overstaffed by 300-500 pilots less than a year ago too currently at “normal staffing” levels and hiring.

Hey FedElta,
I believe your son has stayed employed at a part 121 carrier throughout the wait in the pool right? I hope so. I have been lucky to be at a place that I really enjoy (will only leave for FDX).
I think the pool has about 30 guys in it, some of whom have been hired at Southwest, UPS, and other places. When the time comes, I would imagine most of those 30 will jump at the opportunity for a class at FDX, even if it's for an FDA. Will it be in 2010? Hopefully!
Hope everything is going well for you at big D.

Maybe I'm just slower than the average Joe ... but it just recently occurred to me (not really, just trying to make a point here, please bare with me) that not only is 4a2b taking money from my monthly take-home pay, but also from my "high-5" (that probably wouldn't have qualified this year even without 4a2b ... at least I hope Contract 2012 is enough of an improvement that I can count my high-5 during those years?) which will affect my retirement pay forever, it affects my B Fund (more retirement pay forever).
Compound that retirement pay for the next 40 years (ALL my grandparents lived well into their 90's), and we're talking some serious "coin" here.
With my 25% pay cut (80hr BLG --> 60hr BLG) I wonder if President Obama has any sort of bailout money for us?
Maybe "CASH FOR WHINERS?"

Does that include the "B" fund match of 7% of that money you lost? If not, add another $1750 to the total. If you were to invest that $26,750 and make just 5% over 20 years that is $70,975 or $55,611 over 15 years the company has taken from you. That is the true cost of 4a2b. When we come out of it has always been up to us...
