UPS--New MOU signup options

UPS--New MOU signup options
Just came out with the new signup options on the IPA website. There are some new programs which hopefully will get more crewmemebers to signup. I particularly like that option which enables a line holder to drop a trip and give it to an RDG holder to improve his credit. No new retirement option given as of this time.

The crewmember holding the JS, RDG or VTO line and receiving a transferred trip shall receive pay and credit for the trip as if it was above guarantee.
Sounds pretty straight forward to me...

I hate to sound like a pessimist and i've signed up for rdg's and js's but i have a gut feeling that we are not gonna get nearly as many as participants ipa and ups will like to see, So you do the math. I hope ups knows what they're doing and the fire they're playing with because i think that if ups goes forward with thier option they will get burned in a way that will leave a mark like it did back in 97 and will take a lllllllllllong time to recoup thier losses. JMHO.

Not that they would care ...

I think they care because the way the economy is and the loss of market share to the competetor will not be looked at very lightly. This is not 90's and early 2000 where ups was refusing to take new customers and didn't care about the small mom and pops business, These guys are trying to get thier hands on everything and anything. I've been here for a while and this is the first time i see ups begging for money and business. So i think they care specially now.

You're right... we will not hit the numbers that UPS wants, however they will not furlough. Absolutely 99% sure of that. They will take what ever they can get.

A furlough would be a complete cluster frog for UPS. Gut the ANC domicile (where flying is busting at the seams with all the new contracts won), hundreds and hundreds of training events, an immediate open time ban allowed contractually for the IPA to set into place, questionable savings vs. the MOU cost savings, and no flexibility for when an upturn happens.
We have a very unique union, gentlemen/women. 2/3's of us contributed in some way, and that's a figure I'll never forget. I'm proud to be part of the IPA.
PS: For those of us who contributed by volunteering time off, thank yourself. In a year, do you think you'll be missing the money you forwent, forgoed, or forgoo'd? I view the MOU as a great opportunity to take a break, spent time with family, or tend to a side business.

I agree with you, furloughman.

I agree as well. There will be no furlough just Brown looking to pick up a few scraps. I would also bet that participation will be down this time around again. You can tell Brown is not serious because they are not offering any type of retirement incentive. They are trying to play the fear card.
