Yes, you can apply a non-refundable ticket towards your bank even if you're in SUB. Exact same thing happened to me last Feb. and I researched this in very great detail....ACP's, ALPA contract enforcement, ect. The ticket was over 2 grand so I had a lot of motivation to make sure I got it correct.

I've had that happen to me several times. I usually find out about it when I do my biometric check-in, "You are checked in for flight 1423." That's not my flight number? So I waited until show time (on purpose) and called CRS. They said I had been SUB'd on this new trip due to an equipment change. I asked if I was supposed to be notified that I was in a SUB status and given an opportunity to decline the SUB? "Yeah, you probably are." Good I said, in that case I decline but I am available for DFT (remember it's show time now). They then got a bit huffy and advised me that I should know that all these calls are recorded. I told them I knew that and that they knew that EVERYTHING I WAS SAYING WAS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT! Got drafted twice that way in the last 12 months (it's good to know your contract!)

If they notify you of your trip verbally --- then just decline it then.
If it's via a crew notification on VIPS, you just need to call them to decline it.
I believe the requirement for you to decline is within 24 hrs of original notification or by 4 hrs prior to showtime, whichever, occurs first.

SUB vs OTP
I got subbed in November and did another PMU trip for the OTP commitment during the same footprint. I was paid the original SUB trip credit value (kept the travel bank as well) and was paid the 125% for the PMU trip for the NOV bid period so my DEC 15th check was very nice. I called crew pay before the end of NOV to see if they could just elect not to pay me for the trip I was SUB'd for but they said they couldn't do that and would be taking the money back during the Feb 15th check so I put the extra money in the bank minus the taxes to use in FEB. It will actually be a good deal in the end because my FICA taxes were already maxed out for this year so it's a 6% bonus in a way, but you just have to be aware of when the money will come out and save it.

Looks like they actually took the pay back in my January pay summary so each check in January will have half my OTP commitment deducted from it. Not a huge deal since I save the $$ knowing it would be coming out, but it is a little different than what they said would happen.
