Doing Laundry
Talking to a friend about the intricacies of laundry when I began to wonder if you guys do laundry when on a 2 week trip to foreign lands. Or do you bring enough to last that long? Do you launder in the hotel sink? Wash only undies and socks? Have the whole lot taken to be cleaned by the hotel?
Speaking of laundry, I better do the shop towels and aprons. With my luck, the health inspector will choose to visit me when everything is stained with coffee.

I take it you haven't found Jennifer's Laundry on Shamian Island.
The hotel is cheap -- she's about 1/4 their price. She delivers to the hotel, and I'm told she'll pick up if you call -- 8121 6518. I just had a week's worth of clothes done for less than 10 bucks.
(Old map of Shamian Island, but you'll get the idea. #49 is correct -- Cow & Bridge Thai restaurant faces north, and you'll see it as you cross the bridge onto the island. Around the corner from the Cow & Bridge is a Subway Sandwich Shop (approximate location #47). Enter the building at the same entrance and go to the back for Jennifer's Laundry.)

If you haven't walked to the island, you're missing an experience. Starbucks, Lucy's, German and French restaurants, Thai restaurants ... and a walk through a slice of history with all the British and French colonial structures. Now, the walk from the hotel to get there is another story . . .

I find that T-backs take up much less space than boxers or briefs. Other space savers I've found are wife beaters. They're pretty much in style everywhere. And, they look great with a nice dark pair of spandex shorts.
I think he may have a wedgie.

Maybe you have no problem going "front back inside outside" with a T-backs, but, personally, that string is uncomfortable on the "back" days!

I'm too cheap to pay big bucks for having laundry done in Europe, so will generally take the bigger bag and enough clean uniform shirts/underwear to last the trip. (And no, I don't reverse!) Workout gear is usually synthetic/quick-dry fabric, so will wash in the sink and hope it dries before the next departure. It's always a big morale boost when I swap the clothes in the space-bag from all-clean to all-dirty--that means the trip is halfway done!
Come on Vagabond--let's not air our dirty laundry in public!
