Required RDG coming to UPS

In my opinion, you need to remove your head from your a$$.
We've had hundreds of DC8 folks doing absolutely nothing for months, and block hours CONTINUE to decrease.
We are way overstaffed.
The MOU was genius,
We have the ability to forestall a furlough until 2012 or something and morons like you still think the company is bluffing,
That's what's amazing,
Sorry for the personal attacks, just calling a spade a spade

UPS was going to dump hundreds of pilots on the street in one of the worst employment climates ever, and we came up with a plan to save those jobs at least temporarily. Genius!
I got some time off this year that I used to further my family business-- genius!
All voluntary, nothing concessionary. Genius!
FedEx pilots have all taken a big guarantee hit. 50 hours-- try that as your next guarantee! And here we are carping about some voluntary give-backs that nobody was forced to sign up for. Whiny!
20% reduction in volume and the company was just pretending it was going to furlough? Weak argument. Very weak.
DC8 pilots sitting on their tails and we haven't furloughed yet? Genius again...

I already made that donation, over 15 years of ALPA dues ... big deal. It is part of being in a Union.
Did you donate to the Ameri-Jet teamsters strike fund ? At least that info would be slightly more on topic ... barely.

As Pilots we are an educated group of people yet when you look at these boards people act like little children. Big picture is the company WILL furlough and the only thing we can do about it is use the MOU to save not only the junior guys but also Capt's and everyone else for their quality of life will be affected. We are high paid blue collar workers and right now is not the time to put people on the street. The company holds the cards and all we have is the MOU to help us and our families. Watch the presentation a few times and educate yourselfs on what the reality is out there. Things are not getting better,(USA) nor will they for a long time.

Look at the header on this thread.
REQUIRED RDG coming to UPS. Arguing the merits of the Voluntary MOU is off topic and has been done over and over again.
The ability and lack thereof of the union to agree to a change to a required RDG would require a vote of the membership.
Lets all remember that UPS is in control of any layoff that may occur, not the IPA.

The company has discovered how little it takes (just a threat...) to get this group to cough up $100 million or so in savings to them. This, at the same time they are banking $450 million in profits last quarter.
If you think for one moment they aren't going to ask for more at the bargaining table in 2012, you probably are going to be very surprised.
They are just waiting to see how low we will set the bar.
So, what you need to ask yourself, is this:
How much will you PERMANENTLY give up to postpone a furlough? Because in the end, it is only a postponement.
