The discussions for this are going to get very heated and involved but the end result is what are the UPS pilots willing to do for their fellow pilots. We can talk about who gave and how much, management flying and all the other variables that go into it but if you watch the presentation then you will know that we still need to give the company about 42 million to save the jobs of the bottom 400 pilots through 2011. Bottom line is this, if you give then you give to help the bottom 400. That's what it boils down to.

It would have to go to a membership vote. You would have at least 50% of the pilot group affected with furlough/downgrades and QOL going down the tubes. If this could be alleviated with some shared sacrifice, (ONE RDG in two years), I would bet that would pass fairly easily. Some of you old timers have to remember, this is not a Captain's Club. Unity doesn't just come into play on issues affecting that group...

From a good union source at UPS. The new furlough number coming in at around 400, and the relatively low participation in the previous RDG, mandatory participation is being seriously discussed. Everyone would be required to take at least one RDG period in the next two years. Instead of a full bid period, an optional 25 hour sick bank deduction would be available. For those that have already particiated, a 10 hour sick bank deduction would be the only requirement. The thought is this would avoid massive seat movements and limit the QOL decreases for the majority of IPA members. Look for this in the VERY near future....
The union cannot impose mandatory anything. Any change in work rules, benefits, or compensation requires a vote of the membership. I can virtually guarantee you it will not pass.
If you are in the bottom 400, you should be preparing yourself for unemployment.

I guess being a captain with double digit longevity, I am a member of that club. Comments like yours make me question why I donated a minimum of 110 hours (over $26,000) to help you people out. I get nothing out of it. OK, maybe some more face time with the war department at home. Since we brought the new guys on board I am out of a raise, retro pay, jacket money, and 110 pay credit hours. I think this member of the captains club is done giving. Don't worry Cactus Crew, I still love ya <G>

According to AM's slides EACH pilot would have to pay nearly $50,000 in ADDITIONAL ransom money to prevent a furlough of the bottom 300 in 10/11.
(from the U-tube video):
2010: $5,500
2011: $20,200
2012: $22,500
