I think its a shame the company has to furlough; let me know when you want me back...........and I guarantee that I will recoup every dollar I lose plus interest over the next 30 years. I am tooooo old to be delivering pizzas as my second job to being an airline pilot. Furlough me.
You can make $5000 a month gross delivering pizzas? Sign me up!

FP, they do still have lots of 727's which are slowly getting replaced with 757s and the like. AND they were even more overstaffed than we were! They're just willing to carry more guys on the list. They care about their crews... look at them installing container fire extinguishers in all main cargo holds of their MDs and Airbuses.

Basically what I'm saying is that with the economy appearing to get better and improvements being seen at our closest competitor, I have a hard time believing we're even worse off than we were with MOU 1 earlier this yr. I'm not buying the bs this time. Not to mention that at some point I can make more at Taco Bell than I can as a major airline pilot if I keep giving them more "savings" that they then turn around and give to the CEO.
I see your points but (the bold) has got to be the funniest thing I've ever heard. I don't believe FedEx cares about their crews anymore than UPS does or any more than any airline does (except maybe SWA). They are getting hosed at FedEx with their guarantee.....they all basically took a mandatory paycut. I think that's why they are not talking furloughs because they are all making 45 hours a bid period! Maybe that's changed?

Good points MF. Consider why many governments refuse to pay ransoms (Somali pirates as an example.) By providing a reward, you encourage the behavior you wish to discourage. An unintended consequence of this MOU will be MORE threats of furlough in the future at UPS!

I'm just curious how many managers have been given possible furlough notice or asked to give back anything?

My understanding is that management ,pilots, had reductions in salary and retirement imposed. The probability is they will recover this in future bounus increases. If we had taken the compensation reduction the chances of us recapturing would probably be zero. Management will never get put on the street.

That's refreshing to hear. The only thing I can recall reading was management losing a 401k match and then UPS telling the media no such reductions had been imposed upon their hourly employees. Kind of a disingenuous statement as no 401k match is offered to hourly employees!

See my response on the other thread. The well has limits, we agree. Smart leadership knows what the lines are. The first threat was real. Certainly don't say every threat is real. When not, smart leadership will not fall prey.

Fire away.
UPS thoughts: If loads are increasing, FAA domestic staffing requirements increase, new aircraft are arriving, maybe we should go for more MOU $ while we have the psychological advantage...? And, if Purple keeps running their mouths with info about a recovery and stabilization, this could ruin our IPA $ well.

I agree, the big picture!! Can't win a war without a few losses but if you can not accept losses, the war will never be won.
Also, those that took RDG and JS are picking up open time when able to recoup and prepare for future hardships...

PS. Bottom 100 ready for what ever...!
