New UPS furlough number

Not "no matter how you look at it". if you look at it on a dollar earned per hour worked, you are making the same.

Just because someone makes sense that's no ground to tell them quit thier job. Maybe somebody should grow some ba..s and stick it to these guys. So let me get this straight freightpuppy, As long as ups is threating furloughs you're willing to work half price. I hope you say no because otherwise i'm glad there aren't 3000 of you working here.Boyyyyyyyyyyy we would be in a world of hurt.
I'm not going to even try to discuss this because no matter what I say, someone will try to twist it around. All I can say is that if you are in the bottom 400 and you want the company to "just furlough", then take a LOA and there will be one less overstaffed position. I am not one to just do whatever the company wants but I also don't want to see my friends out on the street, possibly losing their homes because there are no jobs out there. I don't know what the right answer is....I wish I did because I honestly want to do the right thing.
I'm not in the bottom 450 and at this point I'm looking at sitting reserve in SDF anyways so going up to ANC isn't going to make a difference to me. I also have a nursing degree and I can find a job around here and be home every night so I'm not going to starve or lose my house if I'm furloughed. I just don't want to see my friends and people that aren't as fortunate as me get screwed.
Fire away.....

No, but it's NOT the first time this individual has made predictions and none have come to pass as predicted. You may draw your own conclusion as to his methodology and accuracy.

Your right. There is no way we are overstaffed. It is conspiracy between Obama and the Masons to pretend that we are in a world wide financial recession. UPS is up to their eyeballs in the conspiracy and they have bought off the IPA leadership in their quest for global domination.

This is getting pretty ridiculous. FDX just took delivery of their first 777 and have seen their package volume stabilize and in some places increase. I haven't heard a peep about them even threatening a furlough recently.
We, on the other hand, are getting excited about our new 767s... not that I'm not happy we're adding some kind of airframe back into our fleet mix. But even with our heavy China flts and all the additional flts added to OT we're still waaaay overstaffed? Come on! Is FDX really THAT much better than us? And we're still JA'ing too! Hmm, kinda hard to do that when you're overstaffed.
I'll glady take half pay for the periods I signed up for and enjoy the next 2 summers on the boat. But it sure would be nice to hear something besides doom and gloom all the time (from the union no less) about my job security.
What even makes me wonder more is that the last # we heard from UPS is up to 300. Now our own union is telling us that we're even more overstaffed? Dude! I thought they were the ones who had our back! So even though I've moved up at least 50 numbers since earlier this year and the economy is improving, we somehow got even more overstaffed?
This is just hard to buy this time. Are we still overstaffed? Probably. But is it really even more that 300? I'll gladly put in for some more time off, but at some point the mortgage and bar bill still have to get paid. Funny that the amount we saved the company earlier this year got paid as a bonus to one top exec. Things that make you go hmmmm

Two parts of our contract that I would like to give "concessions" on are a lowering of our credit cap and no opentime pick up. But that would require a vote and we all know it would not pass.
