Interesting thread. I was hired into Atlas Class 16 back in '95; none of us are still at Atlas. All the talk back then was where else the jobs were. Here we are 14 years later and it is still going on. Makes you wonder if anything ever changes.

In the 20 years I've been working on aircraft, as a flight mechanic, MX in every form I've learned a few things...from the outside looking in, this is the key to working in the airlines and moving up to a Major:
- Dont be an ***-hole
- you can do it from any background
- Dont be that guy with "the top gun shades and attitude"
- Dont be a drunk
- Dont be a 'hater'. If someone else gets on somewhere, dont be a little whiny ***** about it.
- Dont be a backstabber
- Do be the guy that asks for help when you dont know, and offer the help un-condescendingly when you do
- DONT BE AN ***-HOLE
Pretty much works in any business
