Default 4.a.2b thoughts

- Just when I thought FH couldn't ever be a bigger d-bag!*? Guys like him (ND's with no family life and no hobbies) REALLY need to retire and appreciate the benefits of our long fought for retirement benefits.

- Big picture ... I'm basically OK with the concept of less pay for fewer days worked but I'm working all 19 R days (for only 3+56 hrs/day!) this month!*? I can manage my finances on 60 hrs/month but I'm lucky to still be in my f/o house, still married to my f/o wife, I drive old cars. Not everyone is in that boat, this could be a financial crisis for some. I'd be really ****ed if my monthy expenses exceeded my monthly income due to 4.a.2.b.

- Just remember, We will go on, with or without you ... Regards, FWS. I've been furloughed and know that there are situations much worse than 4.a.2.b and I appreciate Mr. Smith letting me and my family know how much he appreciates my hard work and sacrifices.

- It takes lots of pilot goodwill to keep the system moving during peak, you have to wonder what management is thinking? I'm disappointed in how we've been treated, we deserve better

Amen. I am totally ok with working less for less pay, as long as it is MY choice and not something that is rammed up my you know what.

As for FoxHunter...what else needs to be said. He pretty much makes my argument against Age 65 for me.

For those that thought Fedex would just keep buying up our lines, you are living in fantasyland. It is business, and they made a decision they thought would save them money. It looks like it has. We are doing what we can, which is grieving this application of our contract. /quote]

You know what I expect them to do?? I expect them to properly manage the crewforce through vacancy bids, which they have done a **** poor job of doing.

I expect them to not shotgun the seniority list all over the world (by cheaping out) and then make us pay for it.

I expect them to work with our union/pilot group to find a way to mitigate the overmanning problem. Early retirements, voluntary LOAs, etc, etc. Everything that they ignored before they implemented 4.a.2.b

I guess the purple promise is only good if it works for them. We promise to pay you unless we don't want to, then we won't.

It's the Purple Nurple Promise!

So FH has a crystal ball now? Been talking to Dionne Warwick... Gotta spend that extra money somewhere.

golfandfly,

Don't preach to me about being furloughed. I've been furloughed before. I've been saving ever since and that was nearly a decade ago. However, what I wrote had nothing to do with feeling appreciative for not being furloughed. You need to pay attention. I clearly and obviously directed my response towards the insane notion that 4a2b isn't that bad because some people haven't been really hurt by it. If you think 4a2b was instigated to prevent or delay a furlough then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

Refresh my memory, isn't Cliffy the guy who caused a minor uproar around here talking about his 777 dreams awhile back? It's very simple to say that someone is flame baiting simply because they don't agree with the majority theme/opinon of a board, but it does make you wonder especially since he hasn't been back after sharting this thread.

Ok and it is all GWB's fault. Nobody is getting furloughed and we are getting hosed. Put any spin on it you want, we are being robbed. Drink some more Koolaide. And Mayday you are right Foxhunter can't be a bigger D'Bag.

-- I agree, they have done a terrible job managing personnel.

I expect them to work with our union/pilot group to find a way to mitigate the overmanning problem. Early retirements, voluntary LOAs, etc, etc. Everything that they ignored before they implemented 4.a.2.b

-- Early retirements cost money. They don't want to spend it. Their version of a voluntary leave was that you could take personal leave whenever you wanted to (subject to their approval). 4.a.2.b. was cheaper.

I guess the purple promise is only good if it works for them. We promise to pay you unless we don't want to, then we won't.

-- Fedex is a for profit company and we are a cost center. They employ us to move freight throughout the system. They aren't our buddies. They have decided that they do not need our goodwill and that saving money on the short term is worth losing our goodwill. What will "we" do? I don't fly draft, I have never picked up a disputed pairing, I haven't flown extra. When they need help, I don't offer my services. I used to go the extra mile, I still try to do my best when I am at work, but will not spend time away from the family to help out or make the extra nickel. If others would back up their talk and do the same, we would find the company would be willing to talk to us and maybe work on some issues.

The bottomline is that this is just business.
