FDX- ANC Disputed Pairing...ughhhh.

This subject has been beaten to death and I think we can all agree that the DP process is broken. However, that does not excuse or provide relief for those that pick up a disputed pairing.
That being said lets not loose site that we all make mistakes from time to time...even those among us who claim differently!
Talk to the offending parties, cajole, prod and push if needed. But don't forget that in the end honest mistakes are made. Lets not toss aside a brother or sister whom we're going to need down the road.

Flew with an F/O some time ago who told me he had traded a normal trip for a higher paying DP. When I said "what the foxtrot for" ?? He said, because when he dropped it, it would put more hours into his makeup bank. He did. It did. Clever boy!

Not such a great plan since 90% of the time your drop request comes back as "disapproved insufficient reserves." On top of that you just cut the knees out from under the SIG by showing mgmt that crew members are picking up the dp's in the process.

Exactly! Doesn't matter that he dropped it, called in sick, or got rid of it any other way. It was picked up in open at some point and that's all the company cares about when it comes time to saying it was flown by line holders.

Two or three more concecutive "blunders" and we ALL live with it.
