I'd go with a Germantown crashpad for 2 reasons. First, it's generally very secure and fairly quiet (unless you get one too near the train tracks. Second, I own one, LOL.

I said fun. You guys sound like you are in a sewing club or something. I commuted for 11 years mostly lived out east (had to drive to do anything) then moved into a house in mid-town and waked to bars and restaurants and really had fun. Now I live in Memphis and love it, not as much as my wife and kids but it's been great.
stay out of the burbs and have fun when you are stuck in Memphis.

This picture proves my point. If this guy lived in German town or Collierville he would have been behind the wheel of a car. He was walking home from the Celtic crossing and needed to take a nap. The area is so safe he took a short nap on the curb.
And if truth be know md11fr8dog helped the guy get home and stays in my old crashpad across the street.
Man I miss the crashpad... sometimes
When I see all the not safe, live in a gated community, I'm scared etc etc. I just figure they are the bus/slam clickers. If you won't go out in Memphis I'm sure you hide in your room on the road. Oh, I'm scared in HKG, CDG or any other big city on the planet.
