FDX- Airbus Charters
I have not paid attention to the charter side of things here as it is almost exclusively MD11. However...
Last week two trips showed up for the 'Bus: Pope AFB-Soto Cano AB.
I used to fly there in the Herk many moons ago and thought it would be fun to go back there. These trips were listed as frozen in VIPS. Any body know if they only go to management types? I didn't write down the pairing numbers so can't pull them back up.
Thanks for all the replies...

I think they are frozen until the trip details are finalized, perhaps final details with the military schedule, routes? I don't really understand the benefit of showing the trip while it's still frozen (other than to get everyone hawking open time all lathered up).

No, they go to the pilots with "bot" programs that continually request them until they "thaw", allowing them to jump on them first.

I've gotten lucky with them too - maybe once every other year as an average. Look at the F/Os who fly the mil charters (the formerly frozen ones, anyway) on a consistent basis and I guarantee they're bot users. Even those extra MD-11 IND pairing frozen in open time earlier this month got scooped up by "botters".

Last Tuesday (21st) on the MD there were two FZ trips on the MD (that was not the trip date just the date they were in OT). One dh to CVG fly to HNL dh back, the other was a dh to HNL fly to SYD dh back. I did not wright down the paring numbers, anybody remember what the paring numbers were?
Just wondering who got them (mgmt or line guys)

The 'Bus is a bit different, since our crews aren't world-wide qual'ed like the -11 crews. I believe they put Standards/LCA's who are SA qual'ed on the actual Soto Cano legs. That's what I was told by one of those types anyway. Like you, I didn't write down the trip numbers to check.

Thanks a lot AA. Like I don't get enough of that at home. I hope you got the Navy boy to Memphis last night.
