Default Stupidest Things I've Heard in a Crew Van

Well, at least I won’t have to fly with so many new guys! (Delta crew room in MCO immediately after the furloughs were announced in Sept 2001)

I can’t believe what a good deal this is! The company is going to overreact, layoff too many people, and I am going to make a fortune in green slips [open time pickup at triple the pay rate]. (Constant stream during a four day trip with a Delta 737-200 captain in Oct 2001, he even continued his diatribe of greed in the bus to the parking lot after the trip. It was my last Delta trip, ever.)

[Regarding the recent IPA effort to preserve union jobs] I just thought it was for the guys who needed time off. (UPS 6/16/2009)

Three UPS jumpseaters from SLC to SDF:

[Regarding the recent IPA effort to preserve union jobs] I didn’t know it was a unity thing. (UPS 6/18/2009)

[Regarding the recent IPA effort to preserve union jobs] What we really need a union for is to fix the bunk situation on the 767. It has a place for it, why is there no bunk? That’s something that a captain can not fix on his own. (UPS 6/18/2008)

[Regarding the recent IPA effort to preserve union jobs] Everyone has a reason [for not participating]. I’ve learned that I am just one person. [i.e., my failure to participate does not matter]. (UPS 6/18/2008)

I won’t be around for the next contract, but [the recent IPA effort to preserve union jobs] will really weaken our position if the company knows that we want to work less. (UPS 6/18/2009)

When guys sign up at the bottom of a list, they should know what to expect. (UPS 6/18/2009)

Greedy, selfish people are everywhere.

Eventually, it will catch up to them.

That was definitely some stupid stuff being said. Some people have no clue. It's easy to talk like that when it's not your job on the line.

And that's all I have to say about that.

If you don't mind me asking Ernst, did you not revoke this guys O2 permit on the spot? If not, why not?

My support for the age 60 rule change and retro activity for those over 60 was the right thing to do. With our growth at FedEx, it will have little or no effect on those pilots junior to them. ( DW..actually in crew lounge, not crew van....May 2007)

How bout "hey you FO's don't need a pay raise, you will all be captain in a few years, so let's support a bigger pay raise for captains"

Actually, nothing stupid was said. Those are precisely what a self-centered person would say. Greedy, selfish, cold, arrogant and no sense of solidarity? Yes. Stupid? No.

I can't believe I just paid $12,000 in Campinas for a "Lady of the Night", and didn't even get a kiss.
