The UPS folks that have been around a while will appreciate this one. While driving around the ramp dropping crews off at their respective airplanes, one guy in back says,

"Man, I'm so over this crap, just drop me off at the titty bar next to Lot 2."

Sounded like a pretty good idea at the time.

On the way to the hotel, my FO says to me " I'm not tipping the van driver. There's too many crew members in here and he'll make too much money. Fortunately, he left our shop for Nortwest. Unfortuneatly, he's probably at Delta, now.

You've just described a significant number of major airline pilots.

While riding back to the AOC from the jet..............

"I'm glad we're stopping at this security gate so this friendly and happy to be at her job officer can check our I.D.'s. I feel so much safer now."

What a schmuck! The only time I don't tip them is if I have to load and unload my own bag. Even then I sometimes still tip since I'm a total sap.

I always tip.

But when riding with people who are not airline, to include well dressed business types, I notice they almost always do not tip the van driver.

I that situation I always try to step through the crowd and make a bit of scene pulling the tip out of my wallet, and making sure everybody can see it. As well as hear me say "thank you".
