Get a real education, start a profitable business or work in an interesting and stimulating profession and fly some fun planes like RV6's or Cirrus's. You'll be way happier in the long run

See that little button that says "QUOTE at the bottom right side of each post? Click your cursor on that, if you want to quote someone. It makes reading someone's post so much easier to understand.

Just kidding.

Good luck with your dream and reread albie's post. Good advice.
I never deny that this is part of the reason I am where I am, but I think that other women who are banking on their gender as a ticket to a major are in for a rude awakeing. Times are ever changing and I think that the gender card has been exhausted at this point. [/I][/I]

eaglefly speaks the truth. CRJammin, you are still a baby, why stress yourself with this whole "by 30, I wanna be....." nonsense. 30 is nothing more than an arbitrary number. Enjoy life and take it as it comes. Like eagle said, assuming you are to win the lottery, and get hired at brown or purple, even if you're 40...you'll still have a very long career there. But, let's not count our chickens before they hatch...

I don't think the majority of women are banking on the sex card... rather, its the men who bank on this, lol. (like the poster in your quote.) I've never expected it either, but from Day 1, I've had guys tell me constantly how bad they have it as a man and how much easier it will be for me. How do you say that to someone who is sitting in the very seat next to you, like you're somehow not paying your dues through the same crappy commuter BS like everyone else..??

I totally agree with you that it's not always easy for a woman to prove herself since many believe she got there just because of her gender… (disclaimer, I’m not a woman)

However, in order to "seriously let it go" we seriously need to abolish any legalized discrimination such as the affirmative action... Discrimination is wrong but so is the reverse- or as some call it the revenge-discrimination...

I've done plenty of recruiting at a few regionals in the past to know that gender and race do play a part in the hiring process - it shouldn't!

It hurts everyone, including the ladies and the minority pilots who wouldn't need any help thanks to their knowledge and their skills... However, no one will ever believe them...

Default Sorry for OT post <g>

As a male, I had many aviators I looked up to and enjoyed reading their stories when I was a kid. One of them was Jackie Cochran. Jacqueline "Jackie" Cochran

She was a superb aviator, real gentlewoman IMO. Have flown/instructed civilian/military with lots of women, cut them nothing different than anyone else. Aviation is actually one equalized profession/hobby that for the most part is blind to anything other than skill. If you are incompetent, most will not survive (again, regardless of sex). A few do, but have met more males who were incompetent than female, but believe that is because there are more males, so percentage wise assume same rate in my anecdotal observation.
In any case, women generally have an advantage on being considered for an interview assuming all other things equal because there are fewer women in this profession. Just a fact of life, but the variation from the base requirements required is certainly smaller than it once was. Also, believe few are hired/retained unless they have the skillset to match the resume since numbers flying are improving.

Just curious, in your mind, is/was the gender card ever a factor when it comes/came to the function of LCA's?
