Youngest captain at FedEx & UPS?

I think there is still room for a lot of folks at the majors, but the majors won't be what they were 20, or even 10 years ago... FedEx and UPS still rock, and I think some of the majors have a nice upward vector in pay, benefits, and Q of life over a couple years back. But...its a tough nut to crack and the numbers of really solid career jobs has shrunk.
If I was under 28, I'd be trying to get into a Guard or Reserve unit, then chasing the airline dream. Now you've got two good jobs, and in life's little ironies getting one usually makes getting the other easier. The ANG also offers education benefits to pursue something else...just in case...
Flying into Malaysia and Singapore last month, I wouldn't have traded my job with anyone. I loved flying the F-15 and OV10 too. However, I think that in this market a guy who loves to fly for a living can put a lot less stress on himself by having a solid backup and tertiary set of plans. I know its hard to do that AND work a regional schedule, but if anyone's asking...that's what I'd try to do...

Hello everyone,
I am 26 and a 3 year First Officer at a national carrier. Ever since I have been mature enough to make an educated decision it has been my dream to fly a brown jet. Regardless of what some posters on this board say, I for one will not give up. I want it way too bad. Some call it a curse. I call it my passion... I hope to see some of you on line someday.

Fairytale endings
I thought I was investing into a respected and reliable profession. I never thought I would have to be in a position where I had to depend upon fairytale logic to have my goals attained. At some point it is time to cut your losses. The consequences of not making it are too great.
Most other professions that demand as much as aviation offer a better return.

Fairytail logic??? It's America, no guaranteed result. However, you quit, you had a legitimate reason because of your definition of "better return". Quite clearly, many do succeed, many quit. That is fact and not fairytale. Surprising you haven't let go of your airline aspirations and feel the compelling need to bash anyone with a dream. Do you do that to your kids? How sad.

On another board I said you shouldn't have an avatar if you haven't flown it or *** ed it, but I guess those would get boring. Seeing guys with supermodels or P-51s got me tired of the posers verses the real folks. No shame in posting a CRJ or a fat chick, but at least keep it real.
After oogling a lot of nice avatars, however, I admit I've softened my position. However, "soften" may not be the best description on my change of positions...
