Sometimes it seems that everyone thinks the PN's are the most junior on property period. They seem to forget that 200+ were hired after them.

Say what ya' want but I still believe the company implemented 4a2b (hope that's right--reduced blg's) because they figured they could. Kinda like my previous airline-- don't like it, too bad, grieve it! But hey, I actually think that deep in the bowels of management the "realignment" bid was just a means to set up a furlough. I'll believe it's not gonna happen when blg's are back to normal and we're hiring again. I just don't see them keeping an extra xxx 72 SO's hanging on the list.

Just an opinion... yeah I know it stinks.

Come on, guys. You're killin' me.

We can beat up on the PN's, the age change, DW and the Dweebettes, the economy, blah blah blah. But ask yourselves this:

Compare your schedule this month to what you flew a few years ago.

Look at the reduced layover times.

Look at how many legs each day you're flying now vs. then. (I'd bet there are more.)

You're more senior now. Have things gotten better?

The fact is, this company has gone from an atmosphere of "PSP" (really?) to a place where they would drain the blood from your veins for 75 cents.

It's all about the money. No more than that.

All true. But when you throw in the garbage that the Union has done for us, it makes it all the more crappy. At least our representation by our Union should make us feel warm and fuzzy! We know the Company is out to make life harder on us; but not the Union reps....or at least some of them. anyway.

Sympathy for the PN's? Are you kidding me? The PN's got the deal of the century, leapfrogging hundreds who interviewed before them. 2 guys I interviewed with were on the property 6 months before me as Nuggets. Neither of them had International or Heavy time, they came from JetBlue and AirTran. Don't feel sorry for them. They have 200 guys worth of furlough protection, they were making $140/hr in their 2nd year and they avoided the panel for 3 years. I would've jumped at that opportunity.

Once again the ire is misdirected. Are you begrudging the individuals who were asked this question, and answered "MD-11": "We have a slot for you in the MD-11 in Anchorage, or you can wait for a slot for the 727 in Memphis. What would you like to do?" I'm assuming you were never asked that question, but how would you have answered?
As for the process of selection to determine who would be asked that question, I share your sense of confusion. But once again the PNs did not determine that process.
And as for your pity? I couldn't care less. Just get your anger pointed in the right direction.

Here is a PN question. Now, that the most senior PN are in 727 FO school. They will be checked out as NB FOs long before the PN junior to them even go to school for the panel. Some of junior guys won't go to SO school until 2010 sometime.

Now, do the senior PN flying the 727 as FOs get WB FO passover pay until the junior guys activate on the panel? I know one PN who is wondering and he has heard yes and no.

As one who is going to the panel in 2010, I believe that is an excellent question for the union. In my opinion it is an abrogation of seniority and that anyone who was excessed should be trained in inverse seniority order.
I've heard there is a side-letter dealing with this issue but don't know any details about it.

Likewise, what about the PN's who are Flex guys and now can't hold their seat. If they stay as a Flex (with WB pay) and their S/O training date is even later than in your scenario...do the senior PN's get passover pay as well?
