FDX-HKG Ground Trans Accident!
Using the scheduled ground trans, a HKG based crew was in a car accident on the way back home from CAN to HKG.
Accident occured at night (after 1am). Both pilots were asleep when their car ran into the back of a semi. Theory is their driver fell asleep.
No serious injury. Seatbelt rash/bruises.

It was only a matter of time.
I hope the company doesn't wait until one of us gets killed before they fix this problem.
Glad the guys are ok.

Ops Reports, Ops Reports, Ops Reports
I experienced their nightmare. I rode with a driver who was falling asleep routinely. He even had the nerve to be paranoid from me watching him. He kept eyeballing me in the rear-view mirror. It was very nerve-wracking. Speed fluctations, random acts of aggressive driving: I wanted to kick his a$$ out of the car & drive myself. I took the train & it was a a much better experience. Just a pain due to all the different vehicles & associated bureaucracy. It is nice being picked up, until you watch your driver falling asleep! Now if the deviation bank for a $400 car ride could be increased from $25 to $100 it would be worth it to the wallet. No way you can get from HKG to CAN efficiently for less than $50. . . Pathetic that we can save the company that money & they can't pony up a single Benjamin to make it feasible.

Bingo. You are exactly right. For all the talk about filling out FSR, and reporting potential problems, the bottom line is, nothing will EVER get done, unless it impacts the bottom line, and/or costs the company money. That is all they care about. Period. Delay/missed flights definitely get attention. Then, and only then, will they address and fix a problem.
