UPS had a legitimate business rational to furlough. Wall Street expects good management. So do I. A good stock price benefits a line pilot. Profits are where we are going to get our contract improvements. UPS has to maintain street credibility. You park a fleet of DC-8's, business demands that you furlough. Just business. Lots of naysayers on both sides. Guess what, they saw the majority deliver a new unified IPA. However, those who are bitter have to let it go, now that this MOU has survived, it may cause other to reconsider. Positive is better than vinegar. Positive pilot to pilot comms is better than angry reprisals, personal attacks and comments.
For those that regret giving, it's OK, however, you have much to be proud. Don't need a pin to walk tall. We are all indebted. We, the entire IPA, have demonstrated a new strength in pilot unions that will help turn the tide in our industry. Not dissappointed at all. Looking fwd to my short VLOA this year and next. Great oppportunity.
Agreed, good posting.

Yes, it's remarkable how many whining pilots are among our ranks that ankle-bite for sport.

I just saw the "approved LOA" list on the flight ops website and wonder if all that has been volunteered has actually been approved?

I will enjoy my time off but thought I'd see a few more names on that lists as some people I'd talked to said they were signing up for some LOA later this year... Maybe they changed their minds (that's ok) or maybe UPS didn't select everything that our pilots had “volunteered"?

Default JS/RDG Award Info

From the IPA Voluntary Job Protection website...

...If this MOU becomes effective, the Company shall award within five (5) days of the close of this bid in seniority order by fleet, seat and domicile, and identify the volunteer crewmembers who may participate in JS for the bid periods they have requested.

Has anyone seen the names yet?

My long term VLOA was approved in its entirety (exactly as requested).

UPS wanted money back, we gave them money back more on our terms then theirs. 300 people still have a job in till at least Apr 2010. And if we have an increase in profits over then next 12 months, UPS may cancel the MOU and we get our money back for 2011. UPS gave us another chance with us falling short of $41 million out of $131 million short. That's big!!!

SO ENJOY THIS!!!

I was very strong in thinking this was not going to pass. And I'm glade I was wrong.
You want the MOU to go away? Go get FEDEX customers to switch! The key is to grow the business in order to retain jobs.

My understanding is that JS and RDG awards will post today, June 11 ...

Unless someone knows otherwise.

I got robbed! I was told that one would definitely be awarded Job share but the RDGs were questionable, subject to company discretion. Well, I got NONE of my jobshare requests for 2009 but did get one little bid period of RDG. ****!

There goes all my plans. Big Bummer.
