Dude, when you have a loaded gun to your head, you don't want to hear someone **** it. Just keep your negative rumors to yourself. We (the bottom 300) have to wait another weekend to learn of our fate, quit your Schadenfreude!

Schadenfreude
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Schadenfreude (pronounced /ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə/[1], German pronunciation: [ˈʃaːdənˌfʁɔʏ̯də]) is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.[2] This German word is used as a loanword in English and sometimes in other languages.
Philosopher and sociologist Theodor Adorno defined schadenfreude as “largely unanticipated delight in the suffering of another which is cognized as trivial and/or appropriate.”[3]

I get no pleasure from a furlough. I am not too far from the bottom 300 and would be moving to ANC. I think there will be a vote coming. We'll see. I just hate seeing everyone getting their hopes up based on a rumor.

From a purely academic point of view here, one of two people's credibility is going down forever in massive flames on Monday...Should be mildly entertaining as an aside no matter the outcome of the negotiations. Good luck to us all in any event...

They are talking until monday. So logic would dictate that right now the deal is still alive in some form. Nothing more, nothing less.

Unless they are negotiating the full details of a furlough like the sick time, longer recalls, Jumpseats, vacations, etc. I have no source just one of the 300 with a little negative perspective on what might be going on.
Technically we did fail and did not reach the goal for 2009. I guess we will see Monday night after 5pm Eastern time?
Brownie you had my wife and I with just a little bit of hope yesterday. It's a good thing we got so drunk last Saturday night in Cancun Mexico we went down the water slide inside Senor Frogs to the black lagoon!

Little J,
Are you still going to honor your promise of giving Biggs a months pay if we furlough?

Biggs--You are entitled to your opinion, however wrong it may be. I have not ever read such garbage laced with interesting truths to make it sound a little better. The world economy has changed. The rest of the world does follow the US economy, but it is nothing like it's been over the last 20 years. China/India still have double digit growth rates and we have to import nearly everything. Supply chain mgt and just in time inventory is the business standard and the flow of goods from China will be on planes since sea takes too long. Our industry precipitates any quantifiable (sp) measure of the economy, which also means that we will benefit from the recovery before it happens.
I can't believe you used the F word. Have you seen how much open time is out there? We are picking up loads of JAs and OT. If the company issued a furlough JA and OT would stop or nearly stop and we would be 20% understaffed immediately. Enjoy the fact that you have the best Part 121 job out there. UPS is not an airline and won't furlough like the patheticly managed pax carriers. We all can complain all we want about the shortcomings of UPS management. But the fact remains is that we promote from within and UPS mgt has a sense of ownership unlike any other corporate culture out there. My point is they will not slash and burn and/or gut the company like the pax carriers have. I'll give you a month's pay if we furlough!
