I can only imagine how FDX management is watching this unfold.

A lot of the FDX pilots have taken a reduction in pay since January, so they've been beaten down already - with no apparent end in sight. No concessions were given, just a "loop hole" in the contract that even Gov. Arnold can drive his Hummer through!
With exception to the few HKG & 757 pilots, it's an across the board a shared $$$ sacrifice to keep pilots on the payroll. But that's our problem, the majority of the group voted for this contract and didn't see this coming, who really can say they did.

A 40% haircut, and no furloughs?
Do you guys have any furloughs? Is your company still threatening a furlough, even after the haircut?
Thanks. I hope there are better days ahead for all of us.

No, it's not that he couldn't participate. He simply DID NOT WANT to participate. A CA making 200K a year can't afford giving up 10 hours of sick time? That's ridiculous. I'd be confident to say there are at least a few lesser paid F/O's at UPS who also have families and mortgages who are participating in the MOU to help save their fellow employees. This guy you flew with is a coward. He didn't have the guts to be honest with you. It's that simple. Unfortunately, we have far too many one-ways like that in this industry.

don't know all the details of the FedEx/ALPA deal from last fall, but what is the bottom line?

Make no mistake fellas, if it wasn't mandatory, we would probably have the same, if not less participation from our group. Good luck guys.

If 1400 of us are really counting on that sick check in January, it must mean they aren't calling in sick when they should. On the next contract we should look into dropping the sick check in January and instead just bank the sick time in case we really need it. that would at least give some guys the incentive to call in sick when they actually are.
