I hope they don't walk away from these savings. Will the union accept a partial furlough from this MOU? All or nothing, as dictated from the IPA. In our current economic situation, don't think the public gives two shi## about 300 or less pilots making 120K hitting the bricks. The flip side to 2012 is what are we going to have to give up to bring our brothers and sisters back?

Seeing how OT is considered "overtime" in terms of labor you've got to admit a certain irony that those facing layoff are working overtime (in essence demonstrating to the company it can operate with less personnel)?

But when you consider that 240+ DC8 crewmembers are doing absolutely nothing, just waiting to replace "the bottom 300" in a manner of speaking.
In this case, there is no doubt that the UPS system will function normally with less crewmembers, with or without open time pick-ups ... IMHO

Under "normal" circumstances, I see the irony that you see in the OT issue. We probably agree on this more than you would believe ... FWIW

Since we are SO FAR off topic, I'll finish with this ...
Open time flying by IPA members isn't responsible for lowering our staffing levels. And it is not what saves us from service failures either ...
FQM flying and MEF are the elephant standing in our tent.
Again ... IMHO !
which is worth next to nothing ....

Why poke at these guys? If you disagree so be it, but do it with some class. Its a tough night for a lot of people.

Proud sap here<. And everywhere else I've ever worked. No open time, no sick restoration, and I'm unavailable for JA. I'm much happier for it.
