OOPS!! Those were the answers given by a female pilot hired at UAL in the 1980's!
I know several regular ol' white males hired fitting that same profile in the 80's and 90's and a ton of pilots who still wish bad things upon these people years later. Crabs in a barrel we are.

Aviation is all timing, like a lot of other things in life. In the late 90's Delta, AA and United just went threw big hiring booms and the number of applicants that met the FDX requirements had dwindled. The two big hurdles at FDX were the 4 year degree AND the 1000 turbine PIC. The guys that went to the commuters were getting stuck in the right seat and logging a lot of SIC but no PIC time. I went corporate, had quick upgrades and got my turbine quals pretty quick,

My big break was that FDX got the postal contract in 2000 (went into effect 2001) and needed 500 guys off the street ASAP. Luckily for me I had a LOR and my app on file for almost a year and got the call been smiling ever since!

My fiancee wasn't wearing anything. I insisted she show up for our blind date fully nude, so I could really see what I was getting myself into; and I was quite pleased.
