some folks did get hurt - out of work on workman's comp at NEW HIRE rate - not first year pay. It was 'implied' mandatory at the time for new hires - horrible policy. Good class though - just shouldn't have been part of new-hire training schedule....

The FedEx flight crew defense course is fantastic. All gals should take it. I know a couple women who have could have used the skills taught in this class.

At one time it was required for new hires to go through it.

My suggestion is to go half speed or you will end up hurt. Tell them you have a bad elbow or something. Trust me you won't impress the punching bag.

It was never required for new hires. However, they put it on our schedules and never informed us it was optional. That info didn't come out until the workers compensation started balking at the off duty injury when a new hire blew out three ligaments in his knee. I guess if they don't tell you it's optional it's mandatory.

Great course, if you hurt yourself then you need to exercise more often.

You're right, it's an excellent course.

Your assertion above is ignorant. Much of the hand-to-hand stuff involves rolling around on the floor with a 200 lb opponent. Anyone can get a wrist rolled like that. One guy in my class separated his achilles tendon - completely. He was in good shape. He earned 55% of training pay for months - it was a raw deal. They implied that it was mandatory at the time.

I stand corrected.

Great course, don't do it on first year pay.
