FDX - Retirement incentives are possible
#32
SWA doesn't have a retirement!!! So, a buy out is much easier.
Not sure why no one on here can give me a number they think would get FedEx guys to leave? It's all about money.
You guys just bi$ch on here and run the threads in circles comparing FedEx to Apples. We have lost a lot of smart guys on this forum due to the lack of coherent thinking.

I have heard from several management and union "officials" that they felt that it would take $250K minimum to get the required number to retire early. The company also says that if they offered an early retirement it would drastically change the amount of money that they would have to have on hand to properly fund the retirement, thus, they are not interested in offering one.

Just Say "no"
Big D is targeting 300-500 senior guys......the NW folks kept their frozen A-plan after the merger, and those are the guys who seem to be the most interested in a PERP......I belive a number will go if the numbers are right.
I never thought I would say this, but after living with PBS for a year, it offers a number of solutions to overmanning. It stops the huge disparity of carryover, and moderates pay differences. It splits carryover trips for pay purposes between in/out months, and limits pay hours for each month.
Cap and bank gives crewmembers the ability to even out their pay , monh to month. It favors seniority for line construction with infinite choices.
It would take care of most of the excess manning.
CONS:
Junior guys fly weekends and holidays
No more $400k pay for ultra-senior
No line purity
tail swaps
different crew frequently ( each pairing)
Gives the company flexibility in exchange for ????
I'm sure there are many more issues, but it might be worth a re-look at contract time.
Regards

And please spare me the "no make-up" thread drift. This ain't carryover w/ no days off protection, draft or trip trading to plus up your line by the 12 CH buffer. This is over a year's worth of flying the guy has dropped since he began working at Fedex. If he (or anyone else in similar situations) want to re-coup some of it, I say let 'em.

Just ask the Continental guys how much they like PBS.
If you think it is a good idea, just ask a union rep about it, they will set you straight. I think TWA were the only guys that liked PBS, and sounds like maybe Delta. As mentioned, as long as the union controls it, it can be ok, if the company gets it, it makes life miserable. PBS makes you more overstaffed also.
If we got PBS, I would start looking for a new airline job when the economy turns around.
I am all for people offering solutions to the union, but please be informed all the way around.
