How about reporting this to the ALPA Jumpseat Committee Chairman or ProStan Committee Chairman instead. We've got to stop running to flight management with our internal problems. It's not how brothers deal with conflicts between each other.

Consider it done--was in the hub yesterday and looked at the board with all the jumpseaters listed for the outbound flights. I was amazed that, of all the JSeaters listed, close to 100, only a dozen were staging--the vast majority were business--pretty tough to believe.

Why is that hard to believe? If you are going or coming to work and using the JS instead of buying a ticket on an airline you are authorized business. Simple as that. You need to get to work and if you can't jumpseat you will be buying a ticket. JS in lieu of a deadhead=authorized business

Don't forget that if you're booking "business" inbound to MEM...You are not contractually protected if you don't get to MEM for your trip. We fought for that protection, in the CBA.

What needs to change is the notion that business trumps staging when someone needs to be bumped. And, staging J/S protection should exist for all domiciles. Not just the friggin' center of the universe.

Is business authorized when you are jumpseating in lieu of YOU buying a ticket, or the COMPANY buying a ticket. (i.e. staging from your home to domicile, or deadheading to start or end a trip away from domicile in lieu of a company paid ticket)

Both. According to our J/S Comm Chairman.

I flew April as scheduled (a single departure around the worlder), and have since been called for draft 3 times since the end of that trip about a week ago - a new personal record. I got the first call 2 hours after my scheduled trip arrived back in ANC, for a draft trip that was scheduled to leave the next day.
