What do you think will be next to retire?
The early Boeing 757s with the Pratt and Whitney engines are about 25 years old now. I understand that many 757s are surplus to requirements. With the delivery of new Boeing 767s. Wouldn't it make sence to consider selling the early 757s?
This way, they could make their 757 fleet and all Rolls-Royce fleet, whilst right sizing their numbers.
Do you think the DC-8 will be sent to Roswell, New Mexico as scrap or sold ?
I heard they are going to send the simulators to the desert and the pratts will be used for recurrent training for the 75 crewmembers. They'll be based at Bowman field.

UPS retires airplanes that are forty years old or approaching 100k cycles, and those are the only reasons.

Default Would you Give it a Rest, please

I am sure that posting provides entertainment for some to spread totally false rumors. Maybe in a better climate that could be a great outlet. We are currently in very serious and stressful times. Please, refrain from titles and threads that increase the stress in this environment. Many of us look to this forum as a legit place for the sharing of info, let's try and keep the atmosphere in line with the times. I really do appreciate some of the fun responses that are in this and other threads, but to just throw a title like this when all airlines are under attack is really in poor taste. Many of our brothers, friends, and family at other airlines have been furloughed. We are facing this for the second time as an airline, the threat is real. Let's use this medium as a great place to share information that helps, not hurts us.

You might want to avoid APC entirely if this stresses you out.

Why bother selling nails when you can stay home and cut wood for more ?

You can make that $18,000 and maybe more collecting unemployment at a paltry $400 a week.
