Uh I thought we weren't supposed to have avatars like that on here. I would think they are "inappropriate"

Getting back to the original post and not taking away from Jetjok's "most excellent" avtar, we should never forget how much UPS fought both the IPA and the FAA in their attempts to mandate TCAS in our aircraft. Every time I hear UPS state that they promote safety first I raise the bull**** flag. Their attempts to block TCAS over the years has forever undermined their credibility in my mind.

I agree, there is no room on this board for inappropriate avatars. Especially bouncy ones.

So what is it that you guys don't like about seeing old glory... or in this case, two new glories? Please elaborate, as I'm sure we would all like to know. Very unpatriotic, wouldn't you say.

That 'other' forum made me change my avatar to its current 'buttoned up' look. I hope folks here have better things to do (who am I kidding, the grammar police are like locusts here).

As far as 'Crashes that Changed Flying', it seemed pretty accurate (from this idiot's perspective), but I was surprised to learn that Ca. Sully knew that the ideal ditching angle of a A-320 is 11 degrees nose high (or that's what the show was claiming). Am I the only one who doesn't know the ideal ditching angle of my aircraft?

If anyone knows the ideal ditching angle of some popular aircraft, feel free to post and be specific about the series - I doubt the 747SP has the same angle as the 747-400 or a CRJ-200 has the same angle as a CRJ-1000.

I would guess L/D max is best glide for all A/C. Whatever pitch gives that speed..

L/D max would be the best angle for impact in a water ditching?

I don't get it, but I don't have anything better to suggest either.

Only guidance I could find
727- 10-12degrees
Airbus300 and 310 - 11degrees
DC10 - medium nose high ( individual judgement on that one)

couldn't find 75,77, MD anywhere easily. Probably around 11 though if the trend stands
