Your posts have a nice, even-keel feel to them. My question to you: The above comment - opinion or some inside info? Not looking for names or anything like that. You just seem a lot more confident in your postings than us rambling idiots!

This is the same question I posted last night. How many are we talking about? Are folks just speculating that the 300 was the original plan with the DC-8 retirement included, or is the 270 number on top of the 300? I know UPS isn't going to send us an email with the plan, so I guess it is up to the union to find out for us.

The number 270 is wrong. There are 285 on the Reference Seniority List for the DC8. Of those, 27 pilot FE's are over 65 on May 31, and there are an additional 9 PFE's. That makes the number 249 that have a place at the table. There are a few additional pilots that turn 65 beyond May 31, but not that many.

OK, 249 it is then. Now back to the original question.

First, thanks. Second-inside info, all fact based. I'm no one special, it is fact. The airline currently flies "pretty well" with only a few lines in the 8 bid package, this flying will pretty easily shift into the "idle" 757s through the system.

The "idle" 757s are all coming up on heavy checks, so the company is trying to delay them as long as they can. I don't know if they would want to bring them back to active status right now.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. Rocket Bob can attest, but where is the money.

In the earnings report.

"earnings fall nearly 56% "

"average daily volume totaled 14.5 million packages, a 3.9% decline"

" Average revenue per piece decreased 6.9%"

So if revenue only falls by 7% on a decrease of 4% packages, how do profits fall by 56%?

I'm not the sharpest either by any means, however it would be my assumption that the our customers are shipping 2 day or longer (less expensive methods) vice the very lucrative overnight.

They took a hit for retiring the DC-8's, and something else (I can't remember right now). If you add those back in then profits are in line with everything else.
