I think that I read somewhere there were 270 on the 8. With about 40 over 65, that leaves 230 to furlough from the bottom. I hope that I'm wrong, but I don't think so. What does "inactive" mean for the 65+ crowd?

We're about to see if the IPA is worth anything. If they furlough, but keep all of the 2005-2006 newhire managers then look for a lot of screaming. If the IPA can't stop the hiring of more flt qualified managers than what good is the IPA?

I think it is a good idea to focus on the managers instead of each other!
Lets see. 727 retired. No management reduction. 747 (classic) retired. No management reduction. DC-8 retired (Lets see if there is any management reduction). Dont even get me started on the "FE Managers" we have!!!
My understanding of UPS's interpertation of the law is the "Managers" Manage. They DO NOT FLY THE LINE! If this becomes the case would that not lead to some sort of legal action?
Could they even hire managers with furloughed pilots on the street?
Thoughts?

Hmmmm. $401 million profit for the 1st quarter + $200m in stock buyback and $181m "special charge" for parking the Ocho = $786m actual revenue, vs. 902m for 1st quarter last year when the world economy was roughly 40% larger... a mere 14% decrease as opposed to the company press release of 55% loss in revenue. All stock-holders please vote your proxies against the executive 750% bonus plan and remind these pig#$%'s where they can stick it while we hit the street.
Feelin' the love. Back to the job search...

I agree with the sentiment that folks should be upset if UPS decides to keep all the non union pilots.

Managers will be let go, no doubt about it in my estimation. Too many fleets are now gone with the -8 announcement. Morale will be in the tank with the upcoming f announcement, it's a pity.
No waivers or favors from this IPA'er.
Oh, and I'm already preparing for a downgrade by 2010 or 2011. This is going to get ugly, fella's...
