Maximum weekly unemployment benefits by state
#32
I just wanted to make a comment on the "age" posts and the sorts:
Emotions are running high right now. Everyone in the lower 500 numbers are on edge. Senior guys - cut some slack to the junior guys. They are staring down the barrel of a gun without a kevlar vest. Junior guys - we all know what Age 65 did. It's legal and it's done. Time to move forward. Attacking each other gets us nowhere. Yes, I'm potentially on the chopping block - depends on what comes out. This would be number 4 for me since 2001. Not looking for sympathy, just tossing it out there for perspective. I've been there, have the T-shirt, and it sucks. Good luck to all of us.
All that we can control is trying to get our house in order and try to come up with an alternative plan, if needed. Hang in there, folks...

It has been a few years, but I THINK this is how it goes.
Say you are a legitimate Mass resident based in ANC. You will proceed to the MA unemployemnt office. They will process your claim and handle payment for AK. They will pay you the maximim benefit according to what AK will pay them to pay you ... clear as mud.
I had the same deal back in 2001 with AZ versus CT ... I ended up collecting the much lower AZ level.
I think the level of benefit has more to do with where you are based ... FWIW.
One thing that I AM SURE OF ... many of us will know the real answer to this benefit question by the end of Sept.

over 65
Roberto...
Not commenting on the age 65 deal at all, but when the 8 is parked and 40 non frontseaters leave the property, that could be seen as part of the 300 bodies that ups wants to furlough.

This is a little insight into how much putting 300-500 people on the street is going to effect everyone. If 300 are furloughed I would imagine that the bottom 1000 will be effected (500 would change this even more). If you have a seniority number within 800(based on 500 pilots in ANC) from the bottom count on being in ANC (if they keep the current staffing levels).
Bottom 300 Capts will take a 30 % pay hit and will take the best seats their seniority can hold. I.E. More displacements....Move package # 1. Capts not staying in ANC that get downgraded as FO's (already happening) This displaces more to ANC. More moves.
Also dont count on any move benefits from the company for those that live in ANC currently. They are going to lose so much money on this deal. IMO I think everyone should move. Displacement = package #1. Costs around 50-90k (depends on how much your current home is worth, 6% real estae fee). Two cars, Household goods (18.5k) is around 30-35k (depending on where you live). Paid move up. Paid move back 3 years later (when retirements start up again and recalls should start). Then another paid move for those furloughed back. There is the 54 million!!
No OT/JA's. Everyone moves. Change training prefs. Lets roll!
Did I say anything about all the moves?
