For about 3 weeks I have heard 3 dates for the retirement. June, Sept., and Dec. 26. I think June would make more sense as we have a bunch of 75's that are sitting around doing nothing. Let the displacement games begin.

Well here comes another major Realignment/Displacement bid. Hopefully this one will be the last major one for a long while. Three aircraft fleets retired in as many years isn't fun! At least we'll have a very modern fleet after all is said and done.
Maybe they'll do something smart and bring at least some 747-400s to SDF or ONT. No point having everyone tied up in ANC with volcanoes, etc.

I coudn't agree more. The mods here makes me feel that I'm living in Iran or Southern Cali. Which I assume they all live, because there over the top with restrictions. Very PC. Worst then sunday school.

Call me naive or whatever.....but I think they're going to furlough because business is down about 20% give or take depending on the market. Exports from Taiwan are down about 50%, Japan about 30%, China about 30%. The've idled a bunch of DC 8's and a dozen or so 757's.
The capital markets and lending are in shambles. This isn't NPR and CNN hype. This is the worst thing to happen since 1929.
UPS has survived for over 100 years because they react to the current and anticipated business cycle and environment. Its not a socialist jobs program. We know how those "strategies" worked out (Cuba,USSR,Peoples Rep.China...)
In about 3 years, the current over 60 guys will be gone, UPS will be growing and stronger. The weak will have died and/or been eaten.

In 2013 the impact of the age 65 law will start to dwindle, but the IPA will be in negotiations with UPS for Contract 2012. Plus UPS fleet will be significantly smaller than it was when we were hired in 2006-2007 even with the 767's when they actually come.
Let's just hope the block hours increase in a couple of years and UPS doen't hire a couple hundred flight qualified managers while we are furloughed!
I also hope we can jump through a worm hole when we get recalled in 2014 so we can come back to UPS as a 30 year old so we can upgrade by the time we are 45.
Bring all anti socialism, communism, and Obama rhetoric back to the where it belongs on the Bar and Grill= (FAUX) Fox News Blog.

I heard this about a month ago and laughed if off. After reading the Courier today, I am no so sure I am laughing anymore. I heard that Rockford was mentioned as possibly being closed with the volume going to SDF. Could this be the 300 million they say they are still looking to save? I think closing RFD would be a huge mistake, but UPS in known for those kind of mistakes. Anyone else heard anything like this?

You might want to take a look at the TOS again. Mods are tasked with enforcing the rules, we don't make the rules. This can be a valuable place to get information, but rants that run out of bounds serve no useful purpose and tend to drag a reasonable discussion into oblivion.
Say whatever you like, but try to keep it professional, rational and within the TOS. If you want to make personal attacks or baseless slurs you may find another venue more amenable to those goals.

I suspect the planes will be parked earlier than 3rd week of May.
Lots of missed business opportunities by UPS <ng>
