It was in a recent message line or grievance message. The company is hiring PI's to follow guys to and from work if they think that they are cheating on their ground transportation charges on their expense reports.

Here's a simple tip I learned years ago in the Air Force...Don't be a dumbass, and you just might have a good career.
If you want to bet your career for a $25 voucher than have at it. I think the Grievance guys have been very forthright about what is going on. I know nothing more than what has been published publically.

I didn't take it to mean that someone was submitting vouchers for expenses that had not occurred. The e-mail seemed to infer that someone may have had a legitimate expense over $25, but possibly lost the receipt. Instead of trying to track down a duplicate receipt, they elected to just submit a $25 expense and eat the difference. The PI sees the low transportation cost and investigates.
Is collecting a partial payment (with you eating the difference) on a valid expense a termination offense? The rules say that expenses of $25 do not require a receipt, so they say that you can not submit partial expenses? Would everyone have automatically known that either of those were worthy of termination. Does intent to defraud not come in to play?

I would say that it's more probably guys driving themselves to work, and then submitting a $25 charge without a receipt.
I heard we had one guy (non member) fired recently for starting his own limo service, and having his son drive him to work. Unfortunately, he was the only customer.

Hey I am just glad the union told us about this tactic. In the past they were content to let the cool guys know and keep everyone else in the dark. Like the deviator who was caught by tracking his cell phone (or was it a microchip implanted in his ID card).
Big thumbs up to the grievance commitee.
