How about a call from the ACP saying your last 2 expense reports look suspicious.
How does pilot X know he is not getting targeted for harsher punishment than pilot Y.
How about 30 days later they notify the guy and say we looked at you and found nothing. How about they put a copy in the Pilot's file and let us take a look at what is in it.
Any of the above would improve deterrence (isn't that their goal) and at least give us the opportunity to clear our names or prevent false information from being spread. After all who say's PI always tell the truth. That way when Pilot X starts getting an inordinate amount of line checks or pee in the bottle checks he will know why.

And again it is not about the money. Does the company have a policy that says we can follow any employee, at any time, anywhere? Can they have the hotel maid report on me? If so tell me, if not tell me the limits.
I don't have much to hide, but I am surprised at the reaction of the pinko ACLU types.

No do you know for a fact they are? If they are I would expect the union to inform us. Just a thought.

Simple answer...claim legitimate costs associated with commuting. Do that and we have nothing to worry about.

The bottom line is if flight management has, for any reason, a belief that you are lying/stealing from them, corporate security gets involved. From that point, it is corporate security that handles "watching" or whatever they are doing.

Yes I do have something to worry about. My livelyhood is dependent on the whims of federal officials. Some of whom think veterans deserve extra special attention. They don't have to tell me how my name got on a list. Just that it got on a list. Six months and $50,000 later I may be able to clear it up or I may not.

Look, this is really nothing more than profiling. And, we all think that's a good idea. Right? This isn't something the company just dreamed up. Management has determined, accurately, that some pilots are lying on their expense reports and stealing money from the company by expensing $25/OOPE/with no receipts for taxi rides they did not take. If you don't want to be profiled...Be different. Use the credit card or get receipts. Otherwise, you can thank your fellow dishonest pilots for the thrill of having Mike Hammer tailing you.
Just curious...What exactly would the maid be turning you in for?

My new policy is to turn in receipts for EVERYTHING regardless of the amount. In fact, I just did a $22 taxi ride home and that'll get sent. I'm not real excited about doing this but our SCP and corporate security have left me no choice but to do as much as I can to protect myself. I don't think that my auditor will be too impressed. And she's been nothing but a sweetheart to me.

That has been my personal policy for a LONG time (even back in the paper expense report days). I figure it rules out any way they can question my expenses ...
Bottom line here? Is this just another of managements distraction tactics to distract us from more important issues like 777 pay, 4.a.2.b, Section 6 openers?

Maybe the random drug tests haven't provided enough hits and they want to start targeting mini-bar clients for "random" tests. I know, if you don't like it don't drink or as an alternative videotape yourself drinking in front of the time.gov screenshot to prove you were legal.
Just curious, why do you think the company will limit spying to expense report transgressions with contract negotiation around the corner?

I just don't think the company is willing to spend the money to have P.I.s scouring the country looking for someone who pads his expense report with an under $25 out of pocket expense. While, it certainly falls into the stupid category, I'm sure they have much bigger fish to fry. Do it to a few, let the word get out, and the desired effect is achieved. Kind of like shooting every 20th man in a POW camp after an escape attempt. Puts a damper on those looking to dig out. If what I heard about Non-Member Bob is true, I'm sure someone ratted him out. For you that don't remember him lengthy diatribes here, NMB was smarter than all of us put together and didn't mind telling us. Lets see, you tell a dues paying member, maybe senior to you, how you're sticking it to the man. Since he can't go to professional standards because you are a non-member he has no other place to turn and rats you out to the ACP. Priceless.
