A call for action by all FDX pilots

... You don't see anyone supporting the junior folks. Have you looked around the cockpit lately and asked how our collective BLG's are? Support at about 4million/month! I think its the right thing to do... trying to prevent furloughs but your lack of appreciation for the obvious is painful. In case you haven't read any of the recent e-mails from the NC Chairman there was additional "furlough protection" included in the proposal to the Company.
Any other airline contract would've had you out the door long ago. Go look at the UPS notes on this site and see how "supportive" they are. Bet you wouldn't be willing to trade positions with one of their junior folks.
As a UPS bub, the attitude I sense is that most of us would rather collect the 'about 4million/month' through the union side of the house and pay our folks the cash in furlough benefits. Cheaper for us, and no loss of contract which would wipe out the economic gains of our last three contracts which would not return unless we went to FAR work rules. Summary, will gladly take your BLG cuts internally through a union without company interference. We can then hand the money directly to a furloughed UPS pilot to keep them in a house, marriage intact, kids cared for, medical, etc, without UPS getting a fat commission on the deal while still holding us hostage. UPS wants your 4.a.2.b exact language sooo bad they can taste it.......

No doubt on the poll. Every single Captain to a tee (and these are all good guys) that I've flown with in the past 3 months has said, after some nudging, that they would prefer to furlough and get their BLGs up. It's coming - at some point these guys will go to the Union leadership and demand negotiations to furlough guys in exchange for BLG increases.
History has shown any time we take a step backward, the company sees it as permanent and there is no such thing as a return to normal. We see it in the optimized pairings, the FOX system, accepted fares, etc. As "O" said (and I paraphrase): "it's in the companies interest to maximize gains within the limits of the contract". Nothing is given without asking for even more in return.
A furlough would be a bad deal for all. I'll suck up the low BLG's to keep guys around until the economy recovers. Until then, I will work and fly under the terms of our contract--to the letter.
