I thought the issue with GT from HKG/SZX was whether the RFO was to wear his uniform or not, maybe a chop letter or some Chinese border issue - not the contract.

I've done the HKG to SZX ground trans (as an ANC -11 RFO), and like you sad, it is/was routine. However, it's less than 2:00, so its legal per the CBA. The HKG to CAN is greater than 2:00, and thus requires CBA relief, in the form of our FDA LOA, which only applies to FDA crews.
By the way, you do NOT have to wear your uniform. I did not wear the uniform, nor even carry a China chop letter. Showing my passport (didn't even show a gendec) was enough.

I heard about a guy that signed up for an informational picketing event, and then no-showed because he took a draft trip.

Hkg/can
FWIW,
Reference for the HKG/CAN GT.
The 2 hour limit for GT is found in section 8 b.1.b
b. Surface transportation greater than 2 hours must be approved by the SIG.
Amazing the stuff in that contract.
At least now I'll have a reference before speaking up.

On another note, I have been called 8....EIGHT times for draft in the left seat of the MD in the past 2 months.
All the while RLG's/BLG's are at historic lows, in direct violation of our CBA.
There is NO checks a balances. Mark my words, the company will keep these BLGs where they are unless we win the grievance. All additional flying will be thrown to the sharks as draft. And as hungry as we are, the company knows we'll oblige.
We need to stop this non-sense. Big picture people!

What's your point or are you just trying to sling some mud?
The volcano has caused many flights to be revised and extended and even though we are "overmanned" it is next to impossible to drop a trip in ANC!
How many MEM bubbas had 150+ hour lines for April?

That really sums it all up. Widebody captains with 150 CH month and 3rd year 727 second officers with 58 CH. Compare those W-2's and then try to get them together on any issue. $35,700/mo vs. $5,100/mo. Lots of mutual interests there. Heavy sarcasm intended.

Section six openers should be a round of golf while management guys sit in office. We need to do exactly what fedex has done with all other negotiations, drag em out for as long as you can. We should spend at least two years, maybe three years negotiating waiting for an upturn in economy. The roles are now reversed.
