UPS Leaves of Absence?

UPS Leaves of Absence?
Anybody know if UPS is currently granting personal leaves of absence, and if so, do they care why you want one?
Rather than wait around to see what they want to do regarding furlough mitigation, I'm considering taking a temporary position elsewhere.
If anybody has any info or has already done this, please let me know your thoughts, experience, etc.
Thanks

I'm sure these idiots are freaking out (management) with the number of requests from people who wants out for the next few years.
There are quite a few that have found jobs elsewhere and are begging to leave this place for a while until the dusts settle.

I took a 6 month leave to take another flying job when they were going to furlough in '03. No questions asked. Cobra insurance was supposed to run about $250 a month but when I got the bill it was only around 60. Just a call to HR when I was ready to come back was all they asked. Within 2 weeks of calling I was requalled and back on the payroll. Senority was protected but longevity pushed 6 months. I was great to take a break from Brown.

it might have been the law school that scared them, try telling them you want to get a degree in industrial engineering, they always get jerked aroundfor their behavior by the employees that have been to law school
