TSOG,
Problem with internet posts.<g>
TP is a standup IPA crewmember who is definitely not selfish based on IPA foundation participation at Kosairs and some other things I know about TP.

Think perhaps lost in the TP condensed post is the summary line: Acting in unison is more effective than independent action. We all know this though.

Analogy: OT/JA pickups. Everyone has an opinion. However from a union point of view the 'opinion' that is expressed to the employer must be the same, and it must come from the elected leadership. Period. They must stay within the confines of labor law and the CBA.

Independent action/opinion only confirms that a divided house is much easier to conquer and therefore the relentless attack on the contract/furlough threat is being effective.
The IPA is more effective conveying a message to UPS about our strength regarding OT/JA when used like a light switch. Overnight, it virtually all stops IAW with the CBA. It won't happen, always have a little trickle for whatever reason. However, the more than can be convinced to follow the light switch model the more strength the elected EB has with UPS and their credibilty. The credibility is vital. Reason will always support the EB (even if I disagree) because the credibilty is vital to moving UPS into positive territory on our behalf.
Personally, understand that folks have to get the irons in the fire now regarding next options for the family. It can take much more than 90 days or have other time constraints that don't follow the capriciousness of UPS timelines. However, as TP states, if any of us can add the benefit of the whole IPA into your personal planning, then that would be helpful to all of us. Now and as importantly, in our future (i.e. 2012 CBA talks). If you can't, that is also a personal decision.
We can't all know the individual circumstances. Howevever, will always encourage the 'light switch' strength that we all play a part.

TSOG,

I finished my first year of Law School back in 1985, then ran as far away from those people as possible and joined the AF to fly..I really wished I finished though, I could make some nice cash on the side....Just curious whats it costs per year nowadays???
