FedEx wouldn't acknowledge that clause for new hires, I wonder if they will for our own guys. Seems like the very least they could do to somewhat limit the pain of the training process.
Then again, they don't call it the Boeing Bootcamp for nothing, so if I were them I'd plan on taking the written again.

Not to worry. Many had their FE tickets from the time they spent on the panel at other carriers. FDX wasn't the first gig for most. Seems like some people on here tend to forget that.

I had an FE ticket from another airline when I started here, FedEx wouldn't recognize it ...

I think it's pretty much industry standard for pilots to go through the full program whether they just have their FE Written or their actual FE ticket - isn't it?
designed to make it as painful as possible - right of passage - etc.

"Wouldn't recognize it"...? as in they made you go through the full FedEx 727 FE training program?

Add the fact that for the downgradees it will be a paycut...why would you want to rush that training? I say go as slowly as it takes to learn the job properly.

I'm curious--how can a bid open and close within 2 weeks? What about the guys who have vacation for 2-3 weeks and miss the bid altogether?
Oh, BTW Supermario or anyone else for that matter, who is this bluejuice BOT guy with all the slamdunk comments? Jeez!

May sound goofy, but I thought learning to be a flight engineer was more difficult than learning to be an FO on the 727 or the MD11. It wasn't that the JOB was harder, but flying a jet as a crew member was similar to the years of flight experience in some respects. Managing the panel, however--was all new.

No ... but they made me take a prog ride and a "rating ride" which was not required, only a PC was required.

I wish I could have just taken a prog ride and a "rating ride"!
I guess things were different in the "olden days" (sarcasm)
