BID 09-03 is out.

Yes - very clear (muddy)!!
No idea, really, how all that WILL work. Looking at the training letters that are currently posted, though, leads one to believe that - status of currently/formerly getting POP does not factor in to the new training letter.
Four scenarios that do factor in:
1. Voluntarily leaving current award - don't need training on new equipment/seat - most senior of this group will have earliest activation/transfer date
2. Voluntarily leaving current award - need training on new equipment/seat - most senior of this group will have earliest training dates available for new seat
3. IN-Voluntarily leaving current award - don't need training on new equipment/seat - most JUNIOR of this group will have earliest activation/transfer date - after group #1
4. IN-Voluntarily leaving current award - need training on new equipment/seat - most JUNIOR of this group will have training date AFTER group #2
An example - a guy is VOLUNTARILY (bidding to relieve) moving from ANC FO to MEM FO (both on MD11) - his transfer date on the current training letter is Fall of 2009.
If the same guy now gets IN-voluntarily bumped off the MD11 in MEM to something other than MD11, he will probably be one of the more senior on the NEW seat, and his training will now be pushed back a year, maybe more to Fall 2010 or even early 2011 - because he will be one of the last to train (IN-voluntary = most JUNIOR train first)
This is just a total WAG based on looking at the current training letters from 09-02.
Any thoughts on this theory? correct? close? out to lunch?
Who knows what'll really happen??

Thanks for posting that info...what a mess....
Another question, do the guys going through the full course have to be finished BEFORE the guys going through the short re-qual? Because, then guys would be activated/trained out of seniority order, no?
I mean, how are they going to track your 4 scenarios above when they are all pitted against eachother?

Sorry for the condescending attitude last night, must have been the wine.
Anyone senior to the most junior guy over there could bid HKG CA on 09-03 and, if they are in a position to be excessed, or to bid to relieve the excess, then they would be eligible for POP. Other than the senior guys in the 57 F/O seat, that does not include a lot of people at this point.
As far as 09-01, the Capt seats were filled with 09-02.

True, but like I said, there are not a lot of guys that will fall into that category with this bid. The company did a good job at mitigating the large threat in 09-2 with 09-01. They can probably live with the added guys likey to bid for POP on 09-03.

I don't know about that, I jumped on it when they screwed up the bid at the last minute and made it practice 3. Looking back, the 20 HKG CA's didn't change hardly at all across all 3 practice bids and having a 200 or so buffer, me and others threw HKG CA into our bids. Just wondering now where I'll be on the virtual training letter....year 2011 or 12.

head scratcher
This is still uncharted territory and a head scratcher for me. 09-01 is a vacancy bid for 20 HKG Capts and to fill out the F/O slots. It closes on 28 Apr with two practice bids, 8 Apr and 22 Apr. If a fairly senior Capt, today, puts HKG Capt 100% on his standing bid, will he show up on the 8 Apr practice bid on the Capt list or is he creating an excess when the vacancy bid is still open? Haven't heard anything from the company saying the left seat is full and cancelling that part of the vacancy bid. Running 2 excess bids while a vacancy bid is open is just strange. Maybe DW will put out some comm on this.............if he's not studying his 777F CFM

Maybe there will be a virtual LOA for another virtual training letter stating you would never qualify for POP.

As discussed previously, 09-01 will most likely be cancelled after 09-03 closes. If they still fall short in the HKG FO seat after 09-03 then a new vacancy bid, 09-04, will open with the only vacancies in HKG FO seat.
Pure speculation, but what on this board isn't?

Here's even more fuel for the muddy fire....
A DC-10 Capt gets excessed to the Bus or MD, whatever. His training date is in 2011...would you bid to relieve, or sit it out for the next two years and make system average blg?
I feel for some of the ANC FO's who are going to have to retake the FE written before they go to training.

Exactly how many do you see on the training letter with this "problem"?
